City adds petition to protest

Staff ReporterSouthern Gazette

Although the joint proposal has already been submitted, the City of South Perth council will vote to formally accept it at tonight’s council meeting.

‘A boundary change is a legal loophole being used to remove the democratic right of the people of the City of South Perth to demand a poll on the preferred option of amalgamation,’ City of South Perth Mayor Sue Doherty said.

The petition opposes any action by the State Government that would excise any part of the Burswood Peninsula from the Town of Victoria Park, or any entity resulting from any change of boundaries or any proposed amalgamation between the City of South Perth and the Town of Victoria Park.

Ms Doherty encouraged residents to sign the petition and to share it amongst their networks.
