City of Belmont council unanimously supports childcare centre proposal

PARENTS in the City of Belmont will soon have access to more childcare facilities.

At a meeting on May 23, council approved a planning application to amalgamate two corner blocks, Lot 27 (2) Brindley Street and Lot 26 (178) Alexander Road, Belmont, for a new childcare premises.

The centre will be able to take a maximum of 96 children and 19 staff at any one time.

Deputy Mayor Robert Rossi proposed an amendment to ensure any large blank walls of the building would include articulation and variation in colour, to make the building more visually appealing to neighbours who would otherwise be facing a plain wall.

The amendment was seconded by Councillor Steve Wolff and the application was carried unanimously.
