THE new multi-purpose community centre planned for the centre of Belmont received $3.8 million in Lotterywest funding last week.

The community centre will cost about $28 million it total.

City of Belmont proposes the building will include a library, senior citizens centre, museum, office space for not-for-profit organisations, a creche and a cafe.

The grant funds will go towards the construction and fit out of the community centre.

City of Belmont is currently reviewing tenders for architectural and engineering services for the community centre and Faulkner Civic Precinct.
