Michelle Campbell, winner of the 2015 City of Belmont Acquisitive Open Art Award, and Belmont Mayor Phil Marks are looking forward to the 2016 awards and exhibition at the Ruth Faulkner Public Library.

TALENTED artists and photographers from across Western Australia will have their work showcased as part of the City of Belmont’s 14th Annual Art and Photographic Awards.

The exhibition has a prize pool of $14,400 and will be held at the Ruth Faulkner Public Library from July 18-30.

Mayor Phil Marks said he was looking forward to viewing this year’s entries.

“The awards not only provide artists and photographers with the opportunity to express their creativity, innovation and skill but also provide us with a unique insight into their interpretation of our culture, environment and people,” he said.

Winners will be announced at a special function to officially open the exhibition at the library on July 17.

“At the City of Belmont, we are committed to providing and supporting recreational and cultural opportunities for our residents and the Art and Photographic Exhibition encourages local artists to showcase their work to the Belmont community,” Cr Marks said.

The awards are sponsored by Perth Airport, Belmont Forum, Effects Picture Framing, Here’s Luck Lottery Centre, Camera Electronic and Belmont MLA Glenys Godfrey.
