AN amendment has been made to the City of South Perth’s Town Planning Scheme No. 6 in an attempt to fix a loophole surrounding licensed premises.

At a special council meeting this month, councillors voted unanimously to modify Policy P317 in response to a debate that was reignited after a 2015 approval for a Dan Murphy’s on Canning Highway lapsed prompting them to apply for an extension.

The new policy amendment includes an update of terminology, alteration to the criteria relating to design and location of a Liquor Store and references to relevant clauses in the Scheme and Planning and Development (Local Planning Scheme) Regulations, 2015.

Public comment on the new guidelines will be open until December 12.
