City of South Perth seeking feedback on disability plan survey

The council is undertaking a review of its Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP) for 2017-21 and the public is being asked for input.

The plan outlines the ways in which the council is working to create a community that is accessible to everyone, including people living with disabilities, young parents, the elderly, and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

South Perth Mayor Sue Doherty said it was important the council developed and implemented a plan that would support everyone in the community.

“We need the public’s feedback to help us improve access to the City’s services and facilities, and to bring our attention to emerging issues for people with disability and access and inclusion needs,” she said.

“The City is fortunate to have a voluntary Reference Group, the Inclusive Community Advisory Group, which informs the DAIP and is particularly active working in the City assisting in planning activities, such as Disability Access Week.”

Ms Doherty said she believed the council had done a good job of making the City a welcoming place for those living with disabilities.

“There’s been improvements around the City so that parking bays for people living with disabilities are located in the right spots,” she said.
