Cliff delivers his last meal aged 80

But all good things must come to an end, and as Mr Hooper approached his 80th birthday, it was time to hand over the wheel.

Mr Hooper, who lives in Rockingham, has been travelling to South Perth once or twice a week for five years to help the South Perth Senior Citizens Centre with its Meals on Wheels program.

The Meals on Wheels service is co-ordinated by the centre and delivers meals to elderly or residents with a disability who live in the City of South Perth.

Meals are available seven days a week and delivered Monday to Friday, except on public holidays.

‘I love driving the car so I am disappointed I can not do it anymore,’ he said.

‘I did the Meals on Wheels and then I also used to pick some of the residents up for bingo and other events.

‘But I will keep looking for some voluntary work to do.’
