Cloverdale gym runs 24 hour treadmill for Lifeline WA

Nadia BudihardjoSouthern Gazette

FOR 24 hours, a treadmill in a Cloverdale gym will be set aside for anyone willing to add kilometres and simultaneously raise funds for charity this Wednesday.

Anytime Fitness Belmont owner Trevor Porter said local businesses would be contributing $2 for every kilometre raised on the treadmill for Lifeline WA.

“We thought 100km to 160km would be not bad and a good effort for the first time round,” he said.

“Originally it started with our staff and members doing it but then some of the businesses wanted their staff to do it.”

Mr Porter said the gym would be prepared as a comfortable environment for anybody wanting to participate.

“A lot of the people who come to the gym have anxiety or depression problems, we’ve addressed that in the past two years,” he said.

“Any type of movement, exercise like walking and getting out of the office, is good for mental health.”

Anytime Fitness Belmont will open its doors at 10.30am for the event.
