ABOUT 1.3 km of wastewater pipes will be refurbished over the next five months in Como, in order to extend the infrastructure’s life by at least 50 years.

Works will occur in the vicinity of Robert Street, Canning Highway, Park Street, Baldwin Street, Talbot Avenue and Saunders Street.

Water Corporation general manager, assets delivery Nick Churchill said trenchless technology would be used to reline the wastewater pipes wherever possible to minimise the impact on the community by reducing the need for extensive excavation.

The refurbishment project will be completed in September.
