Como resident Lara Clarke set to shine in Bring it On: The Musical

COMO resident Lara Clarke has landed a role in Black Box Performing Arts’ rendition of Bring It On: The Musical.

The 17-year-old will play one of the dancers in the Jackson High School hip hop crew.

Clarke started dancing at a very young age and was offered a scholarship to attend an intensive summer program at New York’s Joffrey Ballet School, majoring in contemporary dance.

She said she had been involved in theatre for as long as she could remember.

“I have always loved the Bring It On movies and when I heard about these auditions, I knew it was my calling,” Clarke said.

“The main challenge is working as a group to get the routines looking good in such a short amount of time.”

Originally released as a 2000 film starring Kirsten Dunst, Bring It On was adapted into a stage musical in 2011.Director Katherine Freind said the show was stacked with songs and high-energy routines.

“I’m extremely passionate about fostering youth in musical theatre and the opportunities Black Box are providing are a wonderful way to do this,” she said.
