CONSTRUCTION on WA’s first Costco store has started with the bulk item store tipped to open its doors in May next year.

Perth Airport announced last year that the American discount behemoth will be a massive 14,000 square metres of building area.

That’s more than three times the size of a normal supermarket, and it will include a petrol station.

The no frills membership warehouse, where customers can purchase everything from fresh food and white goods to jewellery and watches, will be located at the Airport West Retail Park next to the DFO.

The news comes after the chain last month unveiled plans for a second WA store, in Casuarina.

Costco managing director Patrick Noone said Costco would bring a range of benefits to the City of Kwinana.

“We are thrilled to continue our investment in Western Australia with this new location at Casuarina,” he said.
