FAMED WA commentator Dennis Cometti has been recognised, after the media centre at the new Optus Stadium in Perth was named after him.

The Dennis Cometti Media Centre includes two television studios, eight radio commentary boxes, a print press box for 30 people and a photographer’s work room.

There are interview rooms that can accommodate up to 180 journalists and two 1000sqm external broadcast areas.

Cometti’s honour is not the first time a media centre has been named after an acclaimed broadcaster.

The MCG’s media box is named the Ron Casey Media Centre.

The media room at AFL House is known as the Mike Sheahan Media Centre, after the print journalist and television personality.
