AIRPORT control at Perth Airport this morning alerted emergency services to an unidentified substance on a plane.

Department of Fire and Emergency Services personnel attended to investigate and the ChemCentre’s emergency response mobile laboratory team was also at Perth Airport.

The call about the discovery was made at 10.09am.

A Virgin Australia spokeswoman confirmed the unknown substance was found on a charter flight to Perth.

“The substance is currently being tested and all passengers have disembarked the aircraft and will be quarantined as a precautionary measure,” she said.

The substance is not an explosive.
