ONE look in Reg Blewett’s garage will tell you all you need about the car nut.

While the vehicle plates and signs hanging on the walls are impressive, it is the classic cars such as the Ford Model A 1928 that catch the eye.

The East Victoria Park resident said he had a love of cars all of his life, which included 32 years as a mechanic in Welshpool and 20 years working as a patrolman with the RAC.

“I’ve been involved in classic car rallies around Australia, I guess I have cars in my blood,” he said.

“I really enjoy restoring cars and then being able to drive them in rallies, it’s a great feeling.”

The Model A Restorers Club member will exhibit three of his classic cars during the Shannons Classic Car Show at Ascot Racecourse on Sunday March 18.

“It’s a pretty big day, there are lots of blokes involved in the old car movement who exhibit,” he said.

The car show is organised by the Council of Motoring Clubs, which represents 106 classic motoring clubs in Western Australia, and this year there will be about 900 vehicles from 60 clubs.

Gates open at 10am and tickets are $10 per adult with children under 16 able to attend for free.
