East Victoria Park: Woman charged after allegedly stealing and crashing police car

A 41-year-old Thornlie woman is facing a raft of charges after she allegedly stole a police car and crashed it into a parked car in East Victoria Park.

Police were called to a disturbance at a licensed premises on Albany Highway at 4.30pm yesterday.

The officer observed a fight between a man and woman at the premises and a struggle ensued.

The woman allegedly got in the police car and drove it away, but crashed it into a parked car about 400m down the road.

She ran from the crash and was caught nearby.

No one was injured during the incident.

The woman was charged with nine offences, including stealing a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, refusing a preliminary breath test, giving false personal details to police and disorderly behaviour in a police station or lockup.

She will appear in Perth Magistrates Court today.

An internal investigation has been launched by police into the incident.
