In announcing the grant, Police Minister Liza Harvey said the Esther Foundation had made an outstanding contribution to the commitment of crime prevention and the safety of the community.

The Esther Foundation works with young women to get their lives back on track after being affected by drug abuse and other issues.

South Perth MLA John McGrath, who has served on the board, said he had experienced first-hand the successful work of the foundation.

‘I have seen first-hand how these girls have been able to turn their lives around by participating in the Esther program,’ he said.

‘I look forward to continuing to work with the Esther Foundation in ensuring that the community continues to benefit from its services.’
