THE public is being asked to help recover a lifetime of precious photos stolen from an elderly woman in Lathlain yesterday.
Marie Speering said her 79-year-old sister was devastated by the theft which included black and white pictures of her as a baby with their late father and photos with her best friend of 70 years.
“My sister placed her handbag and a fabric bag with the photos at the front door of her niece’s home on Enfield Street before going to move her car out of the driveway,” she said.
“In a tiny window of time a man rode his bike down the driveway, scooped the bags up and took off towards the Victoria Park railway station.
“The hand bag had all the usual cards, $400 to pay bills and an iPad which in time can be replaced.
“But in the fabric bag was her lifetime story in the form of photos.
“Her niece was going to scan them for her 80th birthday celebrations next week.
“They are her only precious copies and she is devastated.”
Marie appealed for people in the area to keep an eye out for a discarded fabric bag and handbag.
“They are of no use to this scumbag but mean the world to my sister and was meant to be a wonderful gift for her 80th birthday,” she said.
