Federation of Indian Associations of WA to host WA’s inaugural India Day

WITH aims to foster unity, understanding, trust and respect, the Federation of Indian Associations of WA (FIAWA) will host WA’s first India Day in 2018.

The event, on August 12 at Curtin Stadium in Bentley, will include cultural programs, a free bouncy castle, saree-wearing demonstration, yoga and first aid demonstrations.

“India Day is about the display of diversity in Indian culture, emphasizing the harmony and cooperation between Australians and people of Indian heritage in WA,” chairperson Atul Garg said.

Mr Garg said FIAWA aimed to create facilities and services for people of Indian Heritage that were not currently provided.

“FIAWA is finalising details and will soon be starting regular free community sessions in student services, domestic violence services, yoga classes and Bhangra classes,” he said.
