Perth: Former police officer charged with historical child sex offences

A 61-YEAR-OLD former police officer has been charged with historical child sex offences.

The man, who was a police officer until he resigned in July 2017 also held a senior position in a model enthusiasts’ club.

He has been charged with eight counts of indecent dealings with a child under 13-years-old, two of attempted sexual penetration of a child under 13-years-old and having a persistent sexual relationship with a child under 13-years-old.

He is also facing two counts of procuring, inciting or encouraging a child 16-years-old or older who was under his care to engage in sexual activity, and three counts of indecent dealing with a child of or over 16-years-old.

The alleged offences occurred between 2008 and 2011 when one of the victims was aged between 11 and 14-years-old.

The former police officer was arrested on Thursday, September 20.

He appeared in the Perth Magistrates Court today and will reappear on September 28.
