‘The challenge was to beat the 2012 total of $5000 and we smashed it,’ head of Year 12 Scott Haddrell said.

All students from kindergarten to Year 12 donated a gold coin to dress up in the Fairy or Scary theme and take part in the event that included activities and stalls, |raffles, a haunted house, live music and a sausage sizzle.

‘The girls had an awesome day filled with fun, laughter and delicious food,’ Mr Haddrell said.

‘With amazing support and hard work, we raised an incredible amount to donate to the Amanda Young Foundation.’

The college has a strong affiliation with the foundation because it was formed in 1998 after Penrhos College student Amanda Young died from meningococcal.

School captain Natasha Cobby said she was proud to raise money for the worthy cause.

‘I feel honoured to organise the fair with the Year 12 student council and continue the foundation’s great work of raising awareness of meningococcal disease and helping those who have been affected by it,’ she said.
