They will face off on Friday night in the 2013 Royal Queensbury Corporate Championship ” a black-tie boxing event that raises money for ToyBox International.

Kurt Wallace lives between Victoria Park and Newman and said there was more competition is his fight than any other as he will be up against a good friend.

‘Most of the guys won’t see their opponent again but we are going to have bragging rights for the rest of our lives,’ he said.

Patrick McCormack, of Rivervale, said he heard about the event through some friends and decided to put his hand up.

Although he has not boxed in a ring before, McCormack said the fight would be a ‘good one’ and has stepped up his training schedule.

‘He (the opponent) is a bit heavier than I am but I have a bit of reach,’ he said.

Last to enter the ring on the night will be Como’s Simon Crossland.

The co-owner of The Causeway Bar in Victoria Park said he was looking forward to the party after the fight.

‘I heard about the event last year and wanted to get involved’
