Now in its 14th year, the objective is to encourage students to achieve at least 60 minutes of exercise each day.

South Perth Primary School will be taking part this Friday and has been doing so for about seven years.

School spokesman Digby Mercer said about 90 per cent, or 400, students will either walk, scoot or cycle to school.

‘We will have a special assembly for them and put on a healthy breakfast.’

Mr Mercer said the school already has an ‘awesome walksome’ initiative, where every fortnight the class with the highest percentage of students walking, cycling or scooting is recognised.
