Help for clowns serious about kids

Staff ReporterSouthern Gazette

The Clown Doctors offer children in hospital a simple treatment plan: massive doses of laughter and humour to help them through their stay away from home.

Staff member Raelle Peacock has taken part in the fundraising day for the past three years with her clowning costume becoming more elaborate each year.

‘It changes every year but I have the doctor’s coat this year so I think I’ll keep it,’ Ms Peacock said.

In 2010, Ms Peacock spent a day with the Clown Doctors at Fremantle Hospital after the Belmont branch raised the most money for the charity in WA. ‘The work they do is simply amazing,’ she said.

As well as collecting donations, the branch sold platypus-shaped money boxes.
