RESCUE pets and nightclub dancers are coming together to make an eye-catching fundraising team.

Perth Rescue Angels, a volunteer animal rescue group, are hosting a ‘Hunk Carwash’ event at Pet Stock Belmont this month to raise funds for cats in need.

The not-for-profit charity strives to change the lives of homeless, neglected, surrendered and abused animals through foster care and adoption.

Rescue Angels committee member Ben Roberts said all money raised from the carwash and adoption day would go towards paying escalating vet bills.

“We’ve just had a kitten season that’s been really bad with diseases,” Mr Roberts said.

“Just one cat, Penelope, she had complications giving birth and that bill came to $8000. The overall vet bill is currently sitting at $30,000.”

The group primarily focuses on stray cats, many from Mandurah, and puts them into a foster-based system, with 140 dedicated carers looking after 82 adult cats and 107 kittens across Perth.

“Every day we’re getting more and more,” Mr Roberts said.

In just a few years of operation, the Rescue Angels have rehomed more than 2500 animals, from cats and dogs to rabbits, guinea pigs, rats and horses.

Mr Roberts said the group wanted to think outside the box for its next event.

“We’ve all seen bikini carwashes done before; 99 per cent of our foster carers are female, so we wanted something for them. I approached Delicious Nightclub, and they said absolutely they would help,” Mr Roberts said.

The Rescue Angels’ hunk carwash is on Saturday May 13 at Pet Stock Belmont between 10am and 2pm.

Small cars are $15 and larger cars are $20.

Donations are tax-deductible, merchandise will be on sale and attendees have the option to sponsor a cat as well as adopt.
