POLICE have confirmed they are investigating the dog-napping drama that occurred in East Victoria Park earlier this week.

Mocca, a brown and white husky, was safely returned by Town of Victoria Park rangers the day after she was taken by a woman from outside the IGA store on Sunday afternoon.

Security vision showed a woman wearing a red dress walking away from the IGA with Mocca on a leash and then driving away in a white Honda SUV.

While she doesn’t know who took her dog, Mocca’s owner Polly Walsh was told it was a woman who left a message on the rangers’ after-hours phone explaining where the dog was.

“The ranger got a message to say to pick up the dog at a particular address,” she said.

“He didn’t see the person who took him.”

The incident occurred in Perth on February 10.

She made a report to Kensington Police.

The Town of Victoria Park said the attending ranger was able to identify Mocca based on her identification tags and microchip.

Kensington Police would not comment on their ongoing investigation.
