Knitting group meets the need

Staff ReporterSouthern Gazette

Lyn Del Borrello started the knitting group five years ago with just three other women and there are now 15 people who get together each Friday to knit blankets, beanies, scarves and gloves.

The St Vincent de Paul Society then distributes the items to people in need or they are sold, with all proceeds going to Vinnies.

‘We are always looking for new members to join the group who can knit, crochet or sew,’ Ms Del Borrello said.

‘We have a great time together, enjoy some morning tea and a chat, all while knowing we are doing some good for people in need.’

The women also sell their creations at stalls and enjoy recreational activities together from time to time, she said.

The group meets at 76 Abernethy Roa in Belmont each Friday from 9.30am to 12.30pm.
