Laurie lauded in finals

Susanne ReillySouthern Gazette

Mr Hudson is a finalist in the Volunteer category of the Aged and Community Services WA Excellence in Care Awards for his tireless work around the community. From volunteering at the organisation's three care centres where he drives the bus for residents, to MC-ing events, and helping out with ad hoc jobs, Mr Hudson has become the community's go-to man.

He also drives the village bus to transport residents to social events, drives the village courtesy buggy and assists SwanCare's maintenance department providing technical advice from his former life as an engineer. SwanCare chief executive Graham Francis said he was hard placed to think of a more deserving finalist in the award category than Mr Hudson, who had been an outstanding volunteer in the SwanCare community for more than eight years.

"We are absolutely delighted that Laurie has been recognised for his exceptional work as a volunteer at SwanCare as a finalist in the ACSWA Excellence in Care Awards," he said.

"Laurie genuinely cares about other people. He is driven to help others to the best of his ability, and never expects any accolades or acknowledgement in return. We're wishing him the best of luck when the award winners are announced later in June."
