Premier Colin Barnett last week announced a 9500sqm area of land at Burswood Peninsula, the future home of Perth’s new stadium, and $15 million would be set aside to invest in a new state-of-the-art, purpose-built Scitech.
Belmont Liberal candidate Glenys Godfrey said the new facility would be built alongside the new Perth Stadium and would be ready by 2018.
Cassie Rowe, Labor candidate for Belmont, responded to the promise with: ‘It’s clear that after four-and-a- half years in Government that Barnett has totally run out of ideas.
‘A Labor Government would focus on the right priorities like encouraging science in classrooms across WA.
‘I don’t see the logical link between a casino, a sports stadium and an educational facility.’
