UPDATE: Doubleview ticket claimed, one lucky Belmont Forum lotto customer still out there

Staff writerSouthern Gazette

Ever wondered how you would react to winning a small fortune in Lotto?

One of WA’s latest winners says his wife looked as excited as someone discovering they were pregnant when she got the news on Saturday.

The couple in their 40’s from Doubleview have been playing Saturday Lotto for the past 10 years and couldn’t believe their luck when they discovered they had won $405,000.

“My wife gave me an ‘I’m pregnant look’,” the husband said.

“We were brushing our teeth before heading to bed, but after we discovered the news we had to have another drink.”

The lucky ticket was purchased from Solid Gold News in Doubleview and was one of the three Division One winning Saturday Lotto tickets sold in Western Australia over the weekend.

While they got the good news via a check of the Lotterywest app late Saturday, two other Division One winners from WA are yet to come forward.

Those tickets were purchased at Here’s Luck Lottery Centre at Belmont Forum in Cloverdale and online through a Lotterywest membership.

Lotterywest spokeswoman Hermione Coleman said they were still waiting for those major winners to come forward, as well as last weekend’s Set for Life 1st Prize winner, who will receive $20,000 a month for the next 20 years.

The Doubleview couple said they still plan to work, but the win would help them secure a significant level of comfort and potentially retire early.

A new car, along with an upgrade to a business class ticket to Singapore, were just some of their more immediate plans.
