Maddington girl pleads guilty to stealing car involved in Como crash

A 14-year-old girl from Maddington has pleaded guilty to stealing a motor vehicle following a police chase that ended with a crash in Como.

About 12.30am on Sunday April 29 police saw a Honda CRV travelling north on Mitchell Freeway, which had been reported stolen from a hairdressers in Rivervale a few days earlier.

Officers attempted to stop the Honda but lost sight of it shortly after it turned on to Mill Point and aborted their pursuit.

The car was then located a short time later after it had crashed into a parked car on Preston Street in Como.

The 14-year-old was one of four juveniles charged in relation to the incident.

Magistrate Timothy Schwass said as a schedule two offender he was prepared, in this case, to grant bail on the grounds that the Department of Communities was able to secure a suitable placement.

The 14-year-old will reappear in court for a pending charge of theft on June 1.Police also apprehended but have not yet charged an 18-year-old woman and three girls between 11-17 years old.

Kensington detectives are appealing for witnesses or CCTV footage to assist in their investigation.
