Man allegedly assaults three elderly people in home invasion

A MAN has been charged after allegedly breaking into three homes last night and assaulting three elderly people.

Police allege that just after 6.30pm last night the man forced entry to a house on Carson Street, East Victoria Park.

He then began stealing items before he was disturbed by three three occupants of the the home, a 95-year-old woman, a 72-year-old man and a 70-year-old woman.

Police say he assaulted all three before leaving the home.

They say he then entered a property on Hill View Terrace, East Victoria Park and stole two handbags before entering another property on the street where a 48-year-old man was assaulted.

A 46-year-old man from Geraldton has been charged with four counts of aggravated home burglary and commit, two counts of aggravated robbery and two counts of common assault in circumstances of aggravation or racial aggravation.

He has also been charged with two counts of stealing and attempting to steal a car.

He is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court today.
