Man arrested after threatening speed camera operator in Kewdale

POLICE have charged a Cloverdale man after he threatened a speed camera operator in Kewdale on Sunday night.

Around 8.20pm last night, an officer was operating a speed camera along Gabriel Street, near Knutsford Avenue, when they detected a vehicle travelling 65km/h in the 50km/h speed zone.

The vehicle returned shortly afterwards and the driver confronted the officer and allegedly demanded the image be deleted.

Police attended the scene soon after, but the man had already left.

However, almost 25 minutes later, the same man returned to the scene and allegedly threatened the operator with a large rock.

Police returned shortly afterwards and arrested the 46 year-old as he attempted to flee on foot.

He has been charged with threatening to injure, endanger or harm and being armed in a way which caused fear.

He is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court on Tuesday February 6.
