Man charged after alleged stolen car crash

A PERTH man is facing a string of charges after allegedly crashing a stolen car as he tried to evade police last night.

Around 11pm, police saw a stolen Toyota Hilux on Manual Crescent in Redcliffe and activated their emergency lights and sirens but the driver allegedly failed to stop.

It is alleged the driver lost control of the Hilux and collided with a parked Toyota Yaris on Stanton Street, near Second Street in Redcliffe.

Police said the Hilux rolled over on its roof in the front yard of a Second Street home.

The 22-year-old male driver and a 31-year-old male passenger, who has serious injuries, were taken to Royal Perth Hospital.

Police have charged the 22-year-old man from Redcliffe with a string of charges, including stealing a motor vehicle and driving recklessly, no authority to drive, failing to ensure a passenger wore a seatbelt and possessing a prohibited drug being methylamphetamine.

He is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court today.
