A PERTH teenager who was driving an allegedly stolen car has been charged with manslaughter after a fatal late-night crash with a shuttle bus.

Police say that around 10pm on Saturday the 19-year-old smashed into a private shuttle bus at the intersection of Abernethy Road and Kewdale Road in Kewdale, causing the bus to roll onto its side.

The teen’s 16-year-old passenger, Jack Raymond Meier, was killed in the crash and the 46-year-old bus driver was taken to Royal Perth Hospital.

Police are investigating the circumstances leading up to the crash as it is believed the car may have been involved in a police pursuit before the accident.

Witnesses to the crash are being sought, particularly the driver of a white car that was stopped at the intersection of Abernethy Road and Kewdale Road and a man who was outside the tool shop near the intersection.

The teen driver faces multiple charges including manslaughter and stealing a motor vehicle, and will face Perth Magistrates Court on Monday.

The crash takes the state’s road toll for this year to 37, compared to 53 at this time last year.
