Man charged over theft of police car in Cloverdale

POLICE have charged a Gosnells man over an incident in Cloverdale in which a police car was allegedly stolen.

About 8.15pm on Tuesday night, officers responded to a call regarding a burglary.

As they were conducting a foot chase along Williamson Street in Cloverdale, it is alleged the man stole their marked police Holden Commodore.

It is further alleged that while the man was driving the stolen police car, he collided with another vehicle on Wright Street before he fled the crash scene on foot.

A 39-year-old man from Gosnells has been charged with aggravated home burglary and commit, stealing, stealing a motor vehicle and dangerous driving causing bodily harm.

He has also been charged with being a driver failing to report an incident occasioning bodily harm, failing to report an incident in which property was damaged and breach of bail.

He is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court tomorrow.
