MANNING Primary will be one of the hundreds of schools taking part in national Walk Safely to School Day (WSTSD) this year.

Taking place this Friday, the Australia-wide event asks all primary school children to walk safely to school in a bid to promote road safety, health, public transport and the environment.

Now in its 17th year, WSTSD is a fun way for primary school-aged kids to learn safe pedestrian behaviour as well as promoting the health benefits of walking and creating the habit from an early age.

A spokesperson for the City of South Perth said the city encouraged parents and carers of primary school aged children to take the challenge and find a way to Walk Safely to School on Friday.
