Marist Lodge resident celebrates 100th birthday with friends and family

A SPECIAL birthday took place at Marist Lodge in Belmont on Friday.

Resident James Coyle celebrated his 100th birthday will family and friends.

Mr Coyle grew up on a farm in Dudinin, which is in the Shire of Kulin, as one of 11 children.

He moved to Perth and joined the army at 24, serving five years in Papua New Guinea, Borneo and the Middle East.

He met and married Kathleen and moved to Melbourne Victoria in 1953 before years later moving back to Perth and living in Mt Helena.
