LOVE is in the air for a couple of Mercy Place Lathlain as they celebrate a wedding anniversary and Valentine’s Day all in the matter of days.

Frank (91) and Norma (89) Platell will celebrate their 69th wedding anniversary on Sunday, February 11 before Mr Platell gives his wife a single red rose and Valentine’s card signed as ‘anonymous lover’ three days later.

Choosing February 11, 1949 to marry at St Patrick’s Church in Mt Lawley, the couple chose a V12 Lincoln as their wedding car, “the ultimate Ford at the time,” according to Mr Platell.

“I knew I was marrying a beautiful person, but I didn’t realise just how beautiful she was until I saw her enter the church on her dad’s arm,” he said.

“We’ve had the most marvellous time together, you can easily say that you love someone but you need to prove it by showing it every day in your actions; that’s what we both did and as a result we had real harmony in our family home.”
