Motorcyclist dead after freeway collision

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a fatal crash which claimed the life of a 72-year-old motorcyclist on the freeway yesterday.

Several vehicles were travelling north on the Kwinana Freeway, Como, at about 4pm on Wednesday.

A Holden Rodeo utility and a Hyundai i30 hatchback appear to have collided, followed with another collision between the Holden Rodeo and a Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Police said the Holden Rodeo continued a further distance along the freeway with part of the motorcycle trapped underneath it before coming to a stop.

The rider of the Harley Davidson, a 72-year-old man from Mount Lawley, died at the scene.

A 75-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the Hyundai i30, was taken to hospital by St John Ambulance.

The driver of the Holden Rodeo, a 44 year-old-man, was not injured.

Kwinana Freeway northbound was closed from Canning Highway to Mill Point Road for more than six hours.
