Mount Lawley man charged after $3.5m banking transfer discovered at Belmont bank

A MAN has been charged after a branch audit in Belmont identified that $3.5m had gone missing.

Major Fraud Squad Detectives have charged a 37-year-old man following their investigation into his activities.

A number of discrepancies were identified during the audit.

Detectives allege that between June, 2016 and February, 2018 the man, who was employed by the bank, stole more than $3.5 million dollars.

The man from Mount Lawley has been charged with one count of stealing as a servant and will appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today (March 1).
