After the diagnosis, she struggled for three years, trying surgery, drug trials and alternate medicine before sadly losing her battle about four and a half years ago.

Four years on, Mrs Erak of South Perth, is honouring her late mother with a high tea with 80 of her closest friends and family members.

‘It has taken me four years to be in the position to actually do something,’ she said.

‘I am holding the fundraiser on my mum’s birthday, to raise money for research into an early detection test for Ovarian Cancer, and to educate women about the signs and symptoms.

‘I wanted to do something positive for her, to remember her birthday, and she was originally English so she loved a good cuppa.’

Mrs Erak’s high tea- Tea for Jayne- will include vintage tea sets, champagne and small delicate cakes, which will be either made by friends or donated.
