City of South Perth Deputy Mayor Kevin Trent said the City recently applied for funding for the Digital Local Government program.

‘If successful, the City will utilise the funding to implement an online development application and racking tool as well as video conferencing facilities which will assist us in putting information out into the community,’ he said.

Town of Victoria Park Deputy Mayor John Bissett said the NBN would assist the Town and the community.

‘Those community members who were once feeling isolated will be connected though faster broadband with their families and friends and supporting health agencies,’ he said.

He added that the Town was focusing on becoming a digital local government in order to enhance the services they provide.

‘The NBN will assist in that aim,’ he said.

NBN Co’s Community Relations Manager for WA Peter Gurney said superfast broadband opened a world of opportunities for families across the State.

‘People on the NBN are discovering they can work from home like they would from the office, get all the family online at once and stream TV over the internet without constant stuttering and buffering,’ he said.
