New bar proposed for area

Staff ReporterSouthern Gazette

The small bar is proposed to open across the road from Wesley College and although the school did not want to comment on the plans, it was subject to three deputations at last week’s agenda briefing.

The owners, who operate the popular Bad Apples bar in Ardross, presented first and were adamant they could create the same success on Angelo Street.

They said they decided to open on Angelo Street after they were approached by members of the community who wanted a small bar in the area.

However, a deputation by Colin Stiles, who spoke on behalf of the shop owners from the Coode Street corner shop said the bar would be ‘detrimental’ to the seven businesses in that shopping building. He said parking would be an issue, especially for ‘Scutti’ who mostly trade on the weekend.
