SUGAR, spice and everything nice is a good way to describe a Tuart Hill resident’s New York-style cookie business which will expand to East Victoria Park this week.
Get Chunky started of as a stall at the Fremantle Markets, with the home-baked cookies selling out after two hours some days.
The Fremantle stall closed in November but Get Chunky’s first shop in Mt Lawley has been open since January last year.
Founder Kyra McNally said new features at the East Victoria Park shop included Australia’s first ‘Make-your-own’ edible cookie dough bar.
“Customers will have a choice from vanilla or chocolate dough and get to customize the flavour and fillings,” she said.
“The shop is more than twice the size as Mt Lawley so there’s a 5-metre concrete counter that will be covered in cookies and a lot more seating.
“We also have a fancy new bright pink photo wall which is perfect for the Insta snaps.”
Mrs McNally said she and her husband loved having dinner in Victoria Park and saw a gap for more dessert options in the busy precinct.
“We wanted a location that was closer to all the South of the river cookie monsters,” she said.
“Six months after Mt Lawley opened we started keeping an eye out on shops that were for lease in East Victoria Park.
“The location itself is right in middle of the hustle and bustle so we are expecting it to be even busier than Mt Lawley as there’s a lot more foot traffic.”
Get Chunky Vic Park will have its grand opening at 900 Albany Hwy, East Victoria Park on May 5 at 10am.
