Nine-year-old set to take part in World’s Greatest Shave

AMELIA Hindmarsh is taking part in the World’s Greatest Shave on Saturday, shaving her head at Wilson Park to raise awareness for cancer.

Amelia decided to take part after she learned that a family friend had leukaemia.

Amelia has set a target of $2500 and to date has raised $1351.

Anne Hindmarsh, Amelia’s mum, said her daughter looked at several ways to raise money for the cause.

“Amelia looked into different ways to raise funds and awareness and came to the conclusion that shaving her head was an easy thing to do,” she said.

“Amelia’s grandmother has just finished treatment for Breast Cancer and she witnessed her lose her hair and the subsequent regrowth and decided that if such a simple act as shaving her head could raise funds and awareness that she would do it.”
