The centre’s Dan Barber said when the range was added to centre’s shop in July, Oasis was the State’s only supplier of Ahiida burqinis .

Three have sold so far, and more sales are expected as the weather heats up.

‘Burqinis came to our attention through one of our Swim School parents who mentioned that they could only buy them online,’ Mr Barber said.

‘This made it difficult for them to get the right size and model to suit their needs.

‘With a number of other enquiries, the centre investigated opportunities for stocking them.

‘We strongly believe that every member of the community should have access to learn to swim.’

Burqinis were designed in two pieces to provide maximum body coverage involving minimal restriction of movement, he said.
