Optus Stadium to host Perth’s first day-night Test

OPTUS Stadium will host Perth’s first day-night cricket Test match, when Australia plays New Zealand from Thursday December 12.

Perth will also host its first Twenty 20 International in nearly a decade, with world number one ranked Pakistan taking on Australia on November 8.

“Perth’s first day-night Test will be a treat for local fans, offering a more convenient time around work and school schedules, and we expect to see that reflected in the attendances,” Sport and Recreation Minister Mick Murray said.

“Perth Stadium has unrivalled atmosphere during its night events, and the chance to enjoy Test cricket from the afternoon into twilight and the evening offers something brand new that I’m sure local fans will be keen to experience.”

Perth will also host 11 men’s and women’s ICC T20 World Cup matches in 2020.
