Otter pups make debut

The two male and two female pups are the third litter born at the zoo in the past year as part of an Australasian breeding program for the Asian small-clawed otter.

Perth Zoo senior vet Simone Vitali dropped in on the otters to give them their vaccinations and a routine health check.

‘The pups, born on March 23 to parents Asia and Tuan, have started to venture out of their nest box and will become increasingly visible to visitors in coming weeks,’ Dr Vitali said.

‘They are looking very healthy and progressing well, weighing between 550 and 780 grams each.
