Passion for helping awarded

Attorney General Michael Mischin said the annual award recognised an outstanding legal practitioner who made a sustained pro bono to the West Australian community.

‘Mr Jenaway doesn’t simply provide pro bono work himself; he also works tirelessly to enlist his colleagues to the pro bono cause,’ he said.

‘Since 2010, Mr Jenaway has volunteered to handle the day-to-day management of the Herbert Smith Freehills pro bono program, which involves identifying opportunities to assist a range of individuals and not-for-profit organisations who would otherwise be unable to obtain access to legal advice, services and representation.

‘He then works to encourage his colleagues with the relevant expertise to take on pro bono work, with the program accepting 108 new applications for 82 clients in 2011-12.’ The dedicated legal practitioner donates his spare time to promoting Aboriginal interests and fighting animal cruelty.
