AMELIA Joseph encourages her students to be influenced by their heritage as well as Australia when creating artworks.
The Australian Islamic College art teacher is proud of the work of her students in the school’s art exhibition Peace Be Upon You.
“I try to remind them of their identity as well as immersing themselves in Australian culture too,” she said.

Students that have different backgrounds from Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Fiji, Afghanistan, Sudan, Somalia, Pakistan, India, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Serbia and many other countries will have their work on show.
The title of the art exhibition relates to a Muslim greeting that people say first when they see you.
Students created artworks of Australian flora and fauna, landscape, Islamic art, ceramic, drawings and mosaic works, in different art styles and techniques.
The exhibition is open to the public from November 24 to December 1.
